Important: If you have not yet applied and been accepted into a Lebanese American University Online program, please visit the LAU Online Home Page to review the available programs and complete the admissions process before attempting to register for courses.
Start your registration
Congratulations on your offer to Lebanese American University Online. Registering for your Fall 2026 Term A courses confirms your place in class, finalizes your enrollment for the term, and starts your tuition billing. The steps within this guide walk you through searching for and registering for your courses in Banner, LAU’s student portal, and then paying your tuition.
Term Dates August 31 – October 2026
Registration Opens August 10, 8:00 AM
Registration Ends September 7, 11:59 PM
Payment Deadline September 9, 2026
Before you begin, you’ll need:
- Your LAU email username (only the part before “@”) and password
- About 10 – 15 minutes to complete registration
- The subject and course list for your program (see Find your courses below to know the courses that you must register for).
- Your tuition payment method ready, if you plan to pay right away
This tutorial is a step-by-step guide for the advising and registration process for new students for whom this semester is their first semester at LAU.
There are five steps.
On your computer, go to the LAU website: www.lau.edu.lb.
Log in to the student portal. It’s the lock icon on the top right-hand side of the homepage.
Use your LAU username and password.
This portal is your window to all LAU services.
Step one, check your study plan.
Go to My Courses and access the study plan for your major suggested by the school you are enrolled in.
View the courses that you might want to take during your first semester.
We are going to use these courses in our process.
Step two, online advising.
Under My Courses, go to Student Advising.
Choose Online Advising and select the term. Then click on Create New Form.
We are going to add the courses as per the study plan.
Type the course number and add the course.
Repeat this process for all your other courses.
For your English course, make sure to enter your level of English as indicated in your acceptance letter.
Remember, all these course numbers can be obtained from your study plan.
When you have a Liberal Arts and Sciences course requirement, you can choose any of the three-credit courses from the LAST list.
The list of LAST courses is available under My Courses. For more details, watch the tutorial related to LAST courses.
With this, you have successfully created an advising form that includes all the courses you are planning to take during your first semester.
At this point, the status of your form is pending.
To have your advising form approved, you need to meet your academic advisor during the online WebEx advising session.
The date, time, and link of the session assigned to you are available on your portal under the My Admissions page.
During this session, the academic advisor will review your courses and approve the form.
During your first semester, you will be advised by one of our academic advisors.
For your second semester and onward, you will be advised by your faculty advisor, whose name you can find on your portal.
You will then be able to move to Step Three: Online Registration.
If you try to proceed without approval, the system will give an error and ask for the alternate PIN.
Therefore, secure your advisor’s approval.
Step three, online registration.
After the advising approval, go to Online Registration.
Select Look Up Classes to Add and choose the current term. Click Advanced Search.
Enter the subject of the first course that you’d like to add.
Write down the course number or leave it empty if you do not know it.
Select your campus, then click Section Search.
This page shows you all the Economics sections that are offered at the campus of your selection for the selected term.
If you see the letter “C” instead of a checkbox, it means that the section is closed.
The CRN stands for Course Reference Number, a five-digit number that is unique for every section of a course.
Next, you have the subject, course number, campus (1 for Beirut and 2 for Byblos), and credits, which represent the number of hours per week.
Then you have the title of the course and the dates during which it is being taught.
Courses are usually given in one of two formats: twice per week or three times per week. MWF means Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. TR means Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Then you have the starting and ending times of the class, the capacity indicating how many students can enroll, and the instructor’s name.
If the instructor’s name is not available, it will show as TBA (To Be Announced).
You also have the semester dates and the class location.
If you see “NL” below the location, it means the course is offered online and you can register for the course regardless of the campus you attend.
Let’s select a course.
When you see the course under the Current Schedule section, it means that you have successfully registered for the course.
Watch out. Some courses, such as BIO 201, have associated lab courses.
If you scroll down to the bottom, you’ll see the same course name with “Lab” in the title.
This means you have to choose both the main course and the lab section.
After you’ve made both selections, click Register.
Then repeat the same process for the other courses you have already selected on your advising form.
Make sure not to choose courses that are scheduled at the same time as other courses you’ve already selected during registration.
You may see the following error messages:
Time Conflict: This means you are trying to register for a course that overlaps with another course in your schedule.
Campus restriction: This course is not offered on your campus. Register for courses offered on your campus.
Class restriction: Your classification (freshman, sophomore, junior, etc.) does not allow you to take this course.
Prerequisite error: You are not allowed to register for this course unless you complete the required prerequisite courses first.
Must register concurrently the section linked to the CRN: Register the course and its lab or problem-solving section at the same time.
Duplicate sections: This means you are trying to register for two sections of the same course.
Closed section: The section you chose is full. You need to select another section.
In addition to registering for a course, you might need to drop a course. Under Action, change “None” to “Web Drop” or “Delete” and submit. As you can see, the course is removed.
In case you have already completed your search and know the CRNs of the courses, you can simply enter the CRNs in the empty boxes and click Submit. The course will then appear as registered.
The registration process is usually smooth, but if you encounter any errors, don’t worry because you will always receive a message explaining how to proceed.
Step four, view your schedule
Go to My Courses, select the term in which you’ve registered your courses, and click on My Schedule.
You can also print your schedule and bring it with you on your first day of classes.
Step five, run the CAP degree evaluation.
To ensure that you have registered for the correct courses in your program, you should check your degree evaluation after every registration.
To learn more, watch the tutorial video related to CAP Degree Evaluation.
